Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Giant sequoias thrive in the Sierra Nevada foothills at this historic park. The North Grove features some of the first giant sequoias seen by European Americans, including the famous Discovery Tree stump large enough for gatherings. The South Grove offers a more remote wilderness experience among ancient giants. The park showcases the transition from lower elevation pine forests to high elevation sequoia groves. A hidden gem with fewer crowds than Sequoia National Park.
